Getting out of debt is easier then you think.
Getting rid of $10,000 in debt: First of all, if you have over $10,000.00 in credit card debt there are government agencies who will help you remove a large portion of your debt. The web addresses to those are:
Getting rid of that annoying $8000.00 or less in debt: Make a list of all the credit cards you have. Arrange them by highest balances to lowest balances.
| Credit Card Name | Balance | Interest Rate | Minimum Payment |
| American Savings Bank – Visa | $4300 | 7.2% | $50 |
| American Express | $3200 | 5% | $150 |
| Sears Card | $700 | 18% | $15 |
| Mace’s Card | $200 | 19% | $20 |
Now it would make logical sense to get rid of the highest interest cards first. We are not, however, always logical about money. As much as we would like to think that we could maintain a regimen of paying off debt, it’s not that easy.
The way to trick yourself is as follows.
Pay off the lower balance cards first. Once the balances are wiped clean, put those cards in the drawer and never touch them again. Keep this process up until you are out of debt. It’s that simple.
